NATIONAL DISCUSS

The recent political development in the country made us to come out in our usual way and made this statement. Most especially the defection of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to the opposition party (PDP) from the ruling party (APC)

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has been a benefactor in APF whose name was initially used to form this group back in year 2005. APF cannot afford to keep mute on an issue that concern ATIKU because we have always been at the fore front of his political processes and we can categorically say that, not because of money but the IDEOLOGY of the man called “ATIKU” If we can all remember the days of “Third term” APF stood solidly to fight the Third term bid not to support ATIKU but to bring about the serenity, we needed in the country.
And since then, we have always been contributing our quota to the political development of the country most especially in the eras of election.

ATIKU: BEYOND POLITICAL SURVIVAL

Each President of Nigeria shapes the office by his experience, style, actions and personal perception of his duties and responsibilities.

Each year ATIKU ABUBAKAR gains more luster in our reveries on how we got where we are. Our sophisticated scholarship and painstaking restoration, which so often dismantle heroes have revealed the human dimension of the father of the country but have failed to dim the aura of greatness that clings to ATIKU.
We would do well in this age of total and instant analysis to ponder why is it that we honour ATIKU as we do, why the legend goes on in the face of the reservation and doubts and scholars keep raising.

The sum of his rather normal parts added up to an exceptional figure. Atiku had character. That is easily said but not easily defined. Nobody is quite certain what character is, but everybody captured a piece of the truth. Here are a few thoughts from Atiku’s contemporaries and his later biographers about the qualities that lifted him above others.

One writer noted Atiku’s “cool dignity”. Atiku aloofness and reserve made him stand out from other men, several authors insisted. Atiku understood power. Another claimed simply; “Atiku had quality”. From there the scholars get subjective. Atiku merged his honour with that of Nigeria, recounted a writer, not mention his fortune and everything he planned and built.
During the third term debate, Atiku proved the soundness of Nigeria and that he “had a true Nigeria vision”. By that they meant that he almost alone among those great men, understood in totality the wealth and strength of the land that lay before him and how it formed and held a society together.

Atiku was sensible and wise. He was not the most informed or imaginative of all but he understood himself and this nation. That understanding came from the many element that make up any person. His heart and mind were shaped by his family, his land, his community, and the smaller events that touched experience. They were added to his natural endowments. Only one power can fully fathom such a formula, God. Atiku had the tolerance of a landsman, the faith that comes with witnessing the changing seasons year in, year out. The sensitivity that accumulates from watching buds burst and colts grow. Optimism, perseverance, patience, and eagle’s view of the distant horizon have always been a gift of the earth to those who stayed close to it.

POST 2011 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

APF participate actively in the process of Presidential election way back in 2011. The PDP presidential primary was fought for between the incumbent President (Goodluck Jonathan) and Atiku where APF was also part of the Atiku camp. He instructed APF to work in mobilizing delegates across the country and the job was perfectly done. The result turned the other way around for Atiku’s camp but that does not derail Atiku in forging ahead. APF advised then was for Atiku to congratulate GEJ and work with him which he eventually did and gave consent to declare for GEJ.

APF declared publicly for GEJ not for material or monetary gain but for the progress of the country and we are been vindicated. Met with GEJ in one of the pre-election fora and merely hearing APF, GEJ acknowledge the presence because it is associated with Atiku. APF diverted all its resources for the success of 2011 election.

Event that occurs recently in the political arena in PDP really calls for a synergy between GEJ and Atiku because we believed it is a “PAY BACK TIME. Atiku is a kind of politician that find it easy to work with anybody provided it goes with his political ideology. Also, been one of the founding fathers of PDP, he needs to collaborate with the party big wigs and operate an open-door approach to bring back the trust of the people in him.

• Differentiate between reality and Deceit
• Talk to his associate and friends
• Deal with the right people
